Update Text Filter to allow for boolean searches

Can the Text Filter custom visual be updated to allow for standard boolean searches?

Hello! I see this thread is a few years old but I'm actually interested in applying boolean to a predeveloped text search visual and was wondering if anyone has figured out how to enable boolean search or perhaps knows of another search visual that has this functionality?
