Text Filter doesn't work in Power BI Service

Question

The text filter I have shows up blank when I upload my report to Power BI Service. It works when I am on my desktop though. Any solutions to this?

It is just called text filter, from Microsoft.

your users are supposed to enter their search terms there. The visual will be empty by default.

And I was wrong - it does carry over the developer defined default filter.
