Hi,
I am unable to log in with my personal account in the Power BI services, it is saying me to log in with my organization or scool account, why is this so?
Hi @Anonymous,
Power BI requires that you use a work or school email address to sign up. You can't sign up using email addresses provided by consumer email services or telecommunication providers. This includes outlook.com, hotmail.com, gmail.com, and others.
In short, Power BI as a user-facing product is the amalgamation of many enterprise-grade data platform features from Microsoft and these are allocated to a 'tenant' - this is not something that personal accounts will have assigned to them.
If you want to use a personal account, Guy in a Cube has a run-down on some alternate approaches, buy ultimately you are tied to a work/school account to some degree.
Regards,
Daniel
P.S. Not many users frequent the custom visuals forum. It's geared towards supporting those who want to extend Power BI via development technologies. If you have many more questions like the one above that are more about core Power BI concepts, you will have access to a much wider pool of experts in the Desktop forum (you'll also be likely to get an answer back within minutes 🙂 )
