PBI certified apps security concerns

I see some apps (visuals) have the tag of "PBI certified".

Working for companies with high security concerns, what does this PBI certified translates to? (I read the description, but still not very clear).

Does the 3rd party app share any data outside the company? My requirement is that no data can leave the company at all and no external access to any kind of data.
