Online Power BI report has different data format than desktop

I've developed a report with the Desktop app where I've set some data formats / visualsations etc

When I publish the report online, some of the fields have different data format than those in the Desktop file and I can't change this in the online version. Please see screenshot. How can I change data format in the online tool? Power BI online version formatting.JPG

Verify if your database (Excel) the column of date is type date or type text. My issue was because the column were text.

Actually no, it didn't work. I was just tricked by the link Power BI provides you with when you publish the report.

This link leads to an online report which is the same as the Desktop one in terms of formatting, however if you go to the online Power BI page and open the report - its still the bugged formating.

The two links are different from each other for some reason.

Thanks for your help, I'll try contacting the support by the link you provided me!

Yeah column in the Excel is "Date" type... on some other places it wasn't and I changed it to "Date", but the problem persists...

Could this be because initially when uploading the data in the Power BI, it is in format "Any" and changes to "Date" when I select the first row to be Header? data type.JPG

I think no =/. Try to get suport on https://admin.powerplatform.microsoft.com/newsupportticket/powerbi

They answer quickly by e-mail and sometimes can call for you.

I'm using an Excel spreadsheet, located on a SharePoint site.

@LeonardCs - could you please advise what is the reason for this difference between online version and desktop version and if there is a way of fixing this for the online version ?
Our clients can't use the desktop version, so we're obliged to use the online one on our meetings, which is not formatted properly. ..

Hi Boris, I was the same issue few months ago. I was using a query to export datas from SQL Server and realized that my issue was with the format inside database.

The Power BI Dasktop could fix it automatic, but the Power BI online couldn't.

What type of database are you using? SQL Server? Exel?

Hi, can you show what type of date you're using on PBI Desktop?
