Need custom date between slicer that by default shows a range, but is manually adjustable by user

I have a few reports for sales users that show their customers open orders, sales history. For their Sales hisory report I want the between slicer to always defualt the date range to show the last 12 mo. from today but when they want to input a new range or change it, it renders what they input. For Open orders 6 mo. forward and 1 month back from today, but can input other dates as needed too.

Am I overthinking this, is there an easy way to do this?

Any help on this would be greatly apprechiated!

yes, you are overthinking this. Teach your users how to use the filter pane, and how to set up relative date filters.
