Measure is text only, won't recognize comma in formatting with DAX

someone said when I use FORMAT(), my ability to change the data type goes away and now this measure is text only. I tried removing the FORMAT() function and I still am only able to choose text as the type. See below : the formatting is fine except there are no commas. I am not able to change the data type and I am not able to use DAX to format commas. Does anyone have a solution ? thank you in advance 🙂

Can you try: FORMAT(_var,"$#.##0,00")?
