Creation of Line/Bar Chart with two date columns

I have a single table within a data set. In the table, there are two columns that both contain dates

I need a line chart which has two lines one showing the date reported and one showing the resolution date

Adding this to chart visual doesnt working, do I need to create another table that counts the amount raised and resolved each day. And then set up a date table?

Yes, you need a date table with an active and an inactive relationship. Then the X axis is fed from the date table and the y axis from your measures.
