Week 4 - Food Production Impact
Dear judges and data enthusiasts,
My name is Benjamin and this is my entry to the PowerBI world championship - Week 4.
This week, I have chosen to work on the CO2 emissions generated by our eating habits. Eating local has always been a recommendation to shorten the supply chain and dynamize regional economy, but is eating local also good for the planet ? That's the question I tried to answer with this week submission.
The Data Sets
One data sources has been used for the creation of this dashboard, available on OurWorldinData:
- Food: greenhouse gas emission across the supply chain (OurWorldinData.org)
Accessibility
The dashboard is colour-blind friendly, no matter the type of colour-blindness.
It has been tested on : https://www.color-blindness.com/coblis-color-blindness-simulator/
Alt text has been added to all visuals, to ensure that everyone can comprehend the content.
The tab order has been optimized to ease the navigation of keyboard users :
- The menu is always the first tab
- The visual are coming next
- The Page navigation, "Source" and "About Me" are coming last.
Dashboard Content
All visuals are made with the basic set of visuals from PowerBI - no visual from marketplace was used. The images are sourced from freepik. The icons have been created in PowerPoint using the Microsoft icon package.
And now dive into the dashboard and find out how to change your eating habits to generate less CO2 emissions.
Here is some screenshot of the dashboard :
