"Let's Play Cardio Tennis with Me!" is a lively and engaging dashboard.
Tennis is my passion, and I find immense joy in discussing it through this creative canvas.
Background
I used to play tennis every week before injuring myself last spring. Life without tennis has been tough, and I still hope to recover and hit the courts again this year.
My passion for tennis, especially Cardio Tennis, remains strong. It brings me joy and keeps me happy all week long.
I want to promote Cardio Tennis to everyone who's considering starting tennis but isn't sure where to begin.
For this project, I reached out to my tennis coach, Jonny Swain at JS Tennis Coaching (JS Tennis Coaching), who provided invaluable statistics and advice. Thank you, Jonny, for your kind help—I couldn't have completed my project without you! Jonny is the best coach I've ever had. I attended tennis school and weekend sessions for years in Tokyo, Japan, but no one could ever correct my serve like Jonny. I genuinely enjoy learning tennis with him. 😉
Accessibility
I focused on accessibility in this project, drawing insights from Week 1 and Week 2 challenges.
I should note that the Alt Text is more narrative than the actual dashboard since I couldn't stop talking about tennis. With space limitations in mind, I leveraged the Alt Text function to add more context to my Power BI report—it's a great way to elaborate further.
As a tennis player, I experienced a bad tennis elbow in the past, which left me unable to use a mouse or keyboard. I remember struggling a lot at work during that time. Therefore, I considered users with tennis elbow or disabilities and aimed to ensure everyone can enjoy my Cardio Tennis tour. 😉
UX/UI Design and Theme
I love designing my Power BI reports as a way to express the artistic side of my brain. So, I came up with a unique idea!
"I want to create lots of donut charts that look like tennis balls!"
I started by designing a standard donut chart and then decorated it with another donut chart. Do they look like tennis balls?
I used tennis ball yellow and tennis court green in the charts to give the report an authentic "tennis" atmosphere. 🎾
Some DAX works
I worked on some DAX for this project, especially for the donut charts. The inspiration came from Data Pears.

Additionally, this video from Data Pears inspired me to use KPI cards to enable Alt Text in images and canvas backgrounds.

Are you ready to play Cardio Tennis with me? I am waiting for you on the court!

I realised that I forgot to say "Week 3" in my title, so I added this now 😅
