Inside Olympic Greatness is an interactive data story that explores how nations build their Olympic legacy, not just through how many medals they win, but how, where, and in which disciplines those medals are earned.

Rather than showing a simple medal ranking, this dashboard invites users on a journey:

We start with a global perspective.
Users discover how Olympic success is distributed between Summer and Winter Games, revealing that most countries shine in one season while only a few manage to compete strongly in both.

This section answers:

1. How many countries have ever won a medal?
2. How is success split between Summer and Winter?
3. Who are the historical leaders?

• Summer & Winter Profiles

We then zoom into each season.
The dashboard highlights how Summer Games concentrate most global success, while Winter Games reward a smaller, more specialized group of nations shaped by geography and climate.

Here, users can explore:

1. Seasonal dominance
2. Top-performing nations
3. Country-level medal counts through interactive search
   
   

• Sports DNA

Every nation has a “sporting fingerprint.”
This section reveals where medals truly come from by analyzing disciplines. The radial chart shows how each sport contributes to total success, helping users understand national specialization.

It answers:

1. Which disciplines define Olympic legacy?
2. How has discipline success evolved over time?
3. How many athletes and sports shape this history?
   
   

• Medal Quality & Depth

Finally, we move beyond quantity into quality.
Not all medals tell the same story. Some nations convert participation into gold more efficiently, while others build depth through silver and bronze.

Users explore:

1. Gold conversion rate
2. Medal composition
3. Whether a nation is gold-heavy, balanced, or bronze-heavy
   
   

Overall, the dashboard is designed as a narrative experience, guiding users from global patterns to national identity, from volume to quality, and from history to specialization.
