Global Traveler Trip Analysis
Overview
This Power BI project analyzed traveler trip data from 2021 to 2025. It focused on overall trip statistics, destinations, traveler and demographics, and cost patterns. The interactive dashboards provide insights into travel spending, nationality distributions along with transportation and accommodation preferences.

1. Travel Trends
- Interactive Maps: Displaying traveler nationalities and the destinations they visited.
- Bar Charts: Highlighting the most common trip end dates, showing peak travel times.
- Trip Durations: Summarizes how long travelers stayed at their destinations and the countries they visited.
2. Cost & Demographics
- Informative and Dynamic Cards: Showing total travel spending, accommodation costs and transportation costs
- Age Group Analysis: Identifies spending and preferrence trends based on traveler age groups.
Data Preparation & Cleaning
- Dataset Source: Traveler Trip Dataset-Kaggle
- Cleaning Steps:
- Standardized cost columns (removed "USD" and formatted as currency).
- Removed blank rows and inconsistent records (e.g., deleted James Kim due to missing cost data).
- Unified transportation and accommodation types for consistency.
- Identified travelers with identical names but different ages and nationalities.
- Data cleaning was performed in Excel before importing into Power BI as the dataset was fairly small.
Key Observations
- Some travelers had the same name but were different individuals based on age and nationality.
- Certain travelers took multiple trips at different times during the study period.
- Travel costs varied significantly across age groups and nationalities.
- Data for certain travel years were lacking as they contained less than 7 records/travelers.
Potential Data Gaps
Additional data points would have provided deeper insights:
- Trip country of origin – to determine where travelers began their journeys and modes of transportation used for entire lenght of trip.
- Trip purpose (business vs. vacation) – to analyze spending behavior based on travel intent.
