City Comparison Visualizer is a deliberately simple, three-part exploration of urban livability data, presented through a retro Win95-inspired interface.
The experience lands directly on an interactive visualizer where users can weight core quality-of-life factors like housing affordability, transit access, green space, air quality, and overall livability to dynamically rank cities and surface a top three. From there, the report steps back to focus on Atlanta, using comparative trend visuals to show how it performs over time against the all-city average across key measures.
The model avoids over-indexing on raw metrics, instead normalising and aggregating indicators that reflect lived experience rather than scale. For Example, "Emissions" was inverted and became "Air Quality", so higher is better with all metrics.
Nostalgy effect 😄
Funny idea!
Thanks for the feedback, it was fun to build something a little different!
I really like the ability to choose the weighting! That's a unique solution to the "This is great but I don't care about Public Transit" type of argument that I have heard or made about these kinds of reports in the past. With your report, users can personlize their analysis and that's pretty cool!
