PorcuBI
Most Valuable Professional
11 months agoDynamic resume in Power BI
Two years ago, I created the first version of this Power BI resume, which I shared in a video, article, and download (you can find that here: [website with tutorial] ). Since then, Power BI has evolved a lot, so I decided to revisit the report and give it an update.
The resume now uses several newer features and design tricks.
- The main color theme can be switched at the top right by using a button slicer that changes the entire report between gray, green, and yellow.
- The language section is built with SVGs. Before the language skills section contained 2 bar charts that I layered. Now I created an SVG (following KerKols tutorial: Progress Callout)
- The portfolio section no longer uses a matrix with image URLs. Instead, I use the new image feature with an action, so clicking an image takes you directly to the related tutorial on my website, with a subtle hover effect that greys the tile out.
- Certifications are shown with the new list slicer, inspired by PowerBIPark who posted something (much prettier) on LinkedIn: [Post]
This entry is both a resume and a small showcase of what is possible when you combine visuals, use some SVGs, and apply some conditional formatting.
