CCPI INDEX

The CCPI Score refers to the Climate Change Performance Index score, a metric used to evaluate and compare the climate protection performance of different countries. The CCPI, developed by Germanwatch, the NewClimate Institute, and the Climate Action Network, assesses countries across four main categories:

  1. Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions (40% of the score):
    • Measures the level and trend of GHG emissions in each country relative to their 2030 reduction targets.
  2. Renewable Energy (20% of the score):
    • Assesses the current share of renewable energy in total energy use and progress toward future renewable energy targets.
  3. Energy Use (20% of the score):
    • Examines overall energy consumption and its alignment with 1.5°C-compatible pathways.
  4. Climate Policy (20% of the score):
    • Evaluates national and international climate policies based on expert assessments and how well they contribute to meeting climate goals.
