When I first heard about the Microsoft Power BI Challenge, I knew I wanted to create something personal — something that reflects both my journey as a data professional and my passion for transforming information into clear, meaningful insights.
My goal was simple: turn my experience, skills, and achievements into an interactive narrative — one that would allow viewers to explore my professional journey the same way they would explore business data.
I built the entire report inside Power BI Desktop, relying mostly on:
I also used simple DAX measures (for experience calculations and formatting) and organized the report with section headers, icons, and unified styling.
My approach was to treat this résumé like a real dashboard — focusing on clarity, flow, and user experience.
🔹 Header – “Who I Am”
I began the report with a clean header consisting of:
The goal was to make the first section feel welcoming and instantly tell the viewer who I am and what I specialize in.
🔹 Work Experience – My Career Timeline
The next section highlights my total work experience across different roles and companies.
I used a simple table to keep it readable:
I wanted this section to feel like a structured, chronological view — similar to business reporting timelines — helping the viewer understand my career progression at a glance.
🔹 Skills & Tools – Visualizing My Strengths
To display my skillset, I used:
The bar chart allowed me to visually highlight what I’m strongest at, while the icons provided a clean and modern way to show my technical stack.
🔹 Education – Academic Foundation
Since my academic background plays a key role in my analytical abilities, I added a text card noting:
“I hold a Master’s Degree in Mathematics.”
I kept this section minimal yet prominent.
🔹 Achievements & Goals – What Drives Me
I included a dedicated card section to reflect areas where I have contributed significantly:
This section helps viewers understand not only what I have done, but what motivates my work.
Designing a résumé inside Power BI was surprisingly different from designing a business dashboard. A few learnings stood out:
Overall, this challenge taught me that Power BI is just as powerful for storytelling as it is for analytics — and design thinking plays a huge role in creating reports that feel intuitive.
