When to use Data Factory vs. Data Engineering platforms in Fabric

I am trying to understand what are the best use cases for proforming ETL and data engineering tasks in the Data Factory platform vs. Data Engineering platform in Microsoft Fabric. I want to understand why/when I should be using one platform over the other to do my data engineering work.
