Feature deprecations

Where are we heading? What's the plan? 

More and more these days I can't make sense of where this product is expected to go, how it is expected to grow and which features I can safely rely on while working with internal clients on many projects...

Metric Sets --> Decrepated
Hierarchies in scorecards --> Set to be decrepated
Heatmap views in scorecards --> Set to be decrepated

And so on, and so on...

I get that there are decisions to be made, but I would expect Power BI to grow on capacities, get better features, augment capacities on existing features. I feel we are in a decrepacition cycle, and since the plan isn't clear nor publicized I can't make clear proposals based on features that might get crushed along the way. 

IA stuff is nice, but not that useful when features get thrown out of the window. If it wasn't for Deneb, I don't feel PowerBI would have grown that much in visualization capacities in the past few years... 

So what's the plan Microsoft? How can I, as a professionnal, still rely on Power BI as a usefull tool, set to answer business performance tracking needs and not only has a tool that enables us to put lipstick and mascara over data?

    Copilot may be able to assist with this (depending on your license and other variables), though I've found it's better to ask direct strategy questions (with the add-on listed below) rather than general questions (such as "what's being deprecated...."). It tends to miss stuff in the later. 


    I recently told my team members to make sure to include in their research prompts:

    "Do not include recommendations that have been deprecated in the last 18 months or are set to be deprecated in the future."

       This is crucial because there is a lot of deprecated features that aren't consistently listed as deprecated yet in some of the microsoft documentation. It sent one of our junior people (and subsequently me when she asked me to turn on a feature in the admin portal that no longer existed) down a rabbit hole. She had been working on a specific strategy with PBI (with the metric hub) only to find out she had to start completely over. She had been looking for strategies related to measures best practices and it brought her to a recommendation of metric hub (which was deprecated last year, but all the MS pages have not been updated yet).  The add-on for "deprecation" (and possibly my persona as a data architect) gave me a fuller answer and I've put it in as a rule now for my M365 Copilot.
