Thank You Power BI Community!

Hi Power BI Community!

Welcome to 2023! We had a great 2022 with a ton of feature releases to help you drive a data culture. See the list of 2022 monthly features our team developed at the end of this blog.  It takes a lot of work to develop and improve Power BI features and the Power BI community is front and center in those improvements.

The Microsoft Power BI team would like to thank you, the Power BI Community, for your contributions which have largely shaped the future of Power BI features.  Your feedback, ideas, testing, more feedback and even more feedback have helped Power BI flourish. One of the highlights of 2022 is that Microsoft has been positioned as a Leader in the 2022 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Analytics and Business Intelligence Platforms .

We also recognize and thank you for helping others in the community with their Power BI journey.  Whether it is joining a user group, becoming a user group leader, introducing Power BI to a new person, answering questions on Community.PowerBI.com forums, following and sharing through social channels, for becoming Super Users, and MVPs, and more, we sincerely appreciate your dedication and efforts.

For Microsoft Office users, in 2022, Power BI focused on helping you and your teams be productive with data, share it quickly, and inform more decision making. Here are a few highlights:

Helping organizations use data to make informed decisions got so much easier in 2022! We emphasized helping organizations, teams, and individuals to drive a data culture. Here are a few highlights:

  • Power BI Metrics made it easy to track and share your team’s progress towards its objectives.
  • Power BI Organizational apps added audiences to help meet an organization’s unique needs.
  • “In-place” data sharing made it easier to share data with other tenants easily and securely.

We’ve also focused this past year on our creator experiences, continuing to provide report authors more capabilities and control over their reports through improvements such as:

And of course, pushing the boundaries of what you can expect from data analytics with features such as:

  • Quick measure suggestions, which enables you to create DAX measure through natural language.
  • Data in Space, which uses augmented reality technology in the Power BI Mobile app to create persistent spatial anchors in the real world and attaches Power BI content to those anchors.

The new year will bring so much more to Power BI! We can’t wait to release our first Power BI Desktop release of the year in February 2023Stay tuned and we’ll continue to share with you each month!

We look forward to connecting with you even more this year on Community.PowerBI.com, here on the blog and on social in 2023!

On behalf of the Microsoft Power BI team, we thank you!

Hi @KellyK ( @MS_KellyK )

Many thanks for your blogs they are invaluable in finding out which new feature/fixes made it into the latest release!

Can you ask the Power BI team if the bug Problem when using MDX to query Power BI Dataset - Microsoft Power BI Community is on their radar (i.e. do we have a bug number?) and if so, do we have an ETA please?

The problem means we will have to ask our users (100's) to rewrite all of their reports to transition to Power BI from on-premise OLAP; with the fix they can move to cloud without the pain of re-writing their reports in a big-bang cliff edge - instead we can transition the business by sector with specific support.

Thanks again

Jonathan
