Hello,
I am a beginner student and new to Microsoft Fabric.
I want guidance on which certification to start with and how to prepare without classes.
I am following Microsoft Learn but need a clear roadmap.
Thank you.
Hello, welcome to Microsoft Fabric.
If you are a beginner, a good certification to start with is the Microsoft Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate (DP-600). This certification covers the core concepts of Microsoft Fabric, including data engineering, analytics, and Power BI integration.
To prepare without classes, Microsoft Learn is the best free resource. You can start by completing the official DP-600 learning path on Microsoft Learn, as it is well structured and suitable for beginners. Along with this, practicing hands-on using the Microsoft Fabric trial workspace will help you gain practical experience.
A clear roadmap would be to first understand Microsoft Fabric basics and OneLake, then learn about Lakehouse and Data Pipelines, followed by basic Spark notebooks and Power BI integration. Regular practice and revision using Microsoft Learn should be sufficient for preparation.
Hope this helps. Best wishes for your learning journey.
Hello @anum_ms123
Great to know you've started your journey on Microsoft Fabric. The Microsoft Learn pages are a fantastic place to start. Personally it was more than enough to complete my certification on Fabric!

Hello @anum_ms123 I was once in your shoes not long ago so I
My recommendation is If you’re starting with Microsoft Fabric certification:
1. Begin with Microsoft Learn – Complete the Get started with Fabric learning path.
2. Then choose an exam: (I reckon DP-600 first)
DP‑600 → Analytics Engineer (Power BI + Warehouse).
DP‑700 → Data Engineer (Lakehouse + Pipelines).
3. Use free practice resources – Applied Skills, Learn Together sessions, GitHub samples.
4. Practice building a mini project (Load data → transform → create report) using MSFT Fabric Trial license based on what you've learnt in the previous steps.
Here is a youtube video that helped me with the license (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RHV7jZqc_tE)
5. Take practice tests (https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/credentials/certifications/practice-assessments-for-microsoft-cert...)
6. Finally schedule the exam!
In summary, Learn modules + Hands-on experience are your best preparations to pass the exams.
Good luck.

Hi @anum_ms123 ,
Thanks for reaching out to the Microsoft Fabric Community.
Since you are new to Microsoft Fabric, a good starting point is the Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate (DP 600) certification. This exam is intended for beginners and covers core Fabric concepts such as Lakehouse, Data Warehouse, data ingestion, and Power BI integration.
Microsoft Learn is the right resource to prepare without classes. Following the DP 600 learning path along with hands on practice using the Fabric trial should be sufficient. Microsoft also provides a free practice assessment for this certification, which helps you understand the exam pattern and identify areas that need more focus.
You can find the certification details and the practice assessment here:
