Hello Guys,

I am using data Agent on Fabric and got the message like this:
<LI-CODE lang="markup">I was unable to count the unique resource tag keys in your environment because your organization's Fabric compute capacity has been exceeded. This is a technical limitation of the platform at this time—not an issue with your data or the request itself.
What you can do:
Try the request again later, once compute capacity becomes available.
Contact your technical administrator to monitor or adjust resource usage in Microsoft Fabric.
When capacity is restored, the count can be retrieved from the Dim_EA_Resource_TagKeys table and will cover all available data. If you need further guidance or want to attempt a similar analysis elsewhere, let me know!</LI-CODE>

A few questions:

1. How to monitor capacity?

2. Try the request again later, once compute capacity becomes available. -> how long ? Where to check it ?

Best,
Jacek

Hello jaryszek

To monitor your capacity consumption, you should use the fabric capacity metric app: Install the Microsoft Fabric capacity metrics app - Microsoft Fabric | Microsoft Learn

In fabric, there are two kind of workloads:

Background operations (dataflows, notebooks, pipelines, Copilot, Data Agents)

Interactive operations (Power BI reports, data activator)

To prevent heavy ETL processes from overloading your capacity, Fabric applies smoothing rules, these operation are smoothed ( 5 minutes for interactive operations and 24h for background ones)

If your capacity is being saturated only by data agents, it should return after 24h, if you want to speed up this waiting time, you can turn off and turn on your capacity (but, you will have to reimburse the overconsumption of your capacity)

If you want to dive deeper on this topic, I made a live video during the fabric data days about this topic
Taming the Bill: How to Monitor and Manage Capacity (and Cost) in Fabric" - Fabric Data Days Edition

Hi jaryszek

One further thing to note is that your data agents will use background capacity, but that capacity, if it hits 100 percent, potentially could be running for the next 24 hours. I would highly recommend putting copilot capacities into another fabric capacity to isolate it so that if this happens in the future it will not affect all your other fabric items that are running.

There are many factors to consider, such as the type of data connection you have, whether there is a lot of cardinality in the semantic model, etc. Everything consumes capacity.
P.s You also can use Vertipaq analyzer to analyze your Fabric consume.

Hope that help!
