Hi,

We have two capacities each 16-Vcores. we want to consolidate them. I mean instead of two 16 V-Cores capacity we want single 32 V-core capacity.

For example C1(16), C2(16)-->C2(32)

Can we just move workspaces from C1 to C2 and then delete C1 and use capacity of C1 into capacity of C2 so that it changes from 16 v-core to 32 V-Core.

Any advice.

Thanks

Hi raj_ldo That would definitely work. One other suggestion (while it is still free) would be to create a trial capacity, move your workspaces to that capacity and then delete C1 and scale the C2 capacity to an F32.

Hi raj_ldo ,

Thanks for reaching out to the Microsoft fabric community forum.

Power BI doesn't allow for the direct merging of two separate capacities, such as combining two 16 v-core capacities into a single 32 v-core capacity. Each capacity is managed independently, so resources cannot be pooled together.

Here's the best approach:
- First, upgrade one of your existing capacities (for example, C2) from 16 to 32 v-cores using the Microsoft 365 Admin Center or Azure portal, depending on your purchase method.
- Next, move all workspaces from C1 to the upgraded C2.
- After confirming a successful migration, delete C1 to eliminate unnecessary costs.

Transferring v-cores directly between capacities isn't possible, so this upgrade-and-migrate process is the most effective solution.

Best Regards,
Tejaswi.
Community Support
