A fabric trial does not appear the same way in azure as a paid for fabric resource. So using keyvault is not going ro be that easy. You might be able to use it in an interactive notebook, but currently you can't assign a managed identity to a fabric trial. They are planning on releasing workspace identities in future, but not available today yet.

Hi,

If I have Microsoft Fabric Trial, should I be able to see the subscription in Azure portal? I am trying to find a solution to protect secrets and currently exploring the Azure Key Vault option. But when I try to create a Key Vault resource from the Azure portal I don't see the Microsoft Fabric subscription - should I? Or is it another way to tackle this subject of protecting the secrets? Thanks!

Here is an example that demonstrates how to use a keyvault secret inside of a Fabric notebook using notebookutils.mssparkutils.credentials:https://moaw.dev/workshop/fabric-e2e-rag/?step=3#configure-azure-api-keys

Great example for when all you need is the keyvault in interactive Mode. Thanks for sharing!
