Pipeline and teams by using service account with entra ID

Good morning dear fabric community,

I created a pipeline which runs severeal notebooks. There are some variables which stores the outcome of these notebooks. After the last activity which is an notebook and variable, a teams notification runs. The message is posted to the group chat, when I run the pipeline with my account it is fine. Running the pipeline with the service account it shows this issue: Failed to get license information for the user. Ensure user has a valid Office365 license assigned to them.

Does every user, posting something to teams needs to have a d365 license? If yes which one? Is there a minimal one?

In Microsoft Fabric, when you use a service account to post notifications to Microsoft Teams, the service account must have a valid Office 365 license assigned to it. This is because posting to Teams requires access to Microsoft 365 services, which are licensed features.

License Requirement:

Yes, every user that posts messages to Microsoft Teams needs to have a valid Office 365 license.

The license ensures that the account has access to Microsoft 365 services, including Teams.

Minimal License:

For basic functionality, such as posting messages to Teams, the minimal license required is typically Microsoft 365 Business Basic or Office 365 E1. These licenses include access to Microsoft Teams.

If you need more advanced features, you might consider higher-tier licenses like Microsoft 365 Business Standard or Office 365 E3.
