Hi,

In dataflow gen2, we have the option to Export .json. But, how do we import the json back?

Regards

There is currently not an option to import from a .json file. However, you do have the ability to export and import from a template. Below is the link that talks more about Power Query templates:

In the Import Dataflow dialog, click on the "Browse" Button and select the JSON file you want to import. Once the JSON file is selected, click on the "import" Button to initiate the import process. Data Factory will import the JSON file and create a new DATAflow based on the Import process is completed, you should see the imported Dataflow listed in the Dataflows tab.

When importing Power Query templates, the destination mapping is lost. I am using Dataflow Gen2 to retrieve data from the source system and then store the retrieved data in the Fabric Warehouse using destination mapping. After exporting the Power Query templates for Dataflow Gen2, I created a new Dataflow Gen2 and imported the template. However, while it brings in all the Power Query steps, the destination mapping to the Fabric Warehouse is missing.

why is this process now harder and more cumbersome? i thought upgrades were supposed to make things easier 🙂

You have a couple of options today. Once you enable the GIT integration where you can see the full files for your Dataflow. You can also use the REST API to get the full item definition as well:

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/rest/api/fabric/dataflow/items/get-dataflow-definition
