I have been trying to use a fabric sql database to compare to a lakehouse, I appreciate it is in preview but it is flaky as anything. I keep getting these sort of errors :

Fetch response error: Operation failed with SqlException: A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: TCP Provider, error: 0 - No such host is known.) Client Connection ID: xxx Class: 20, State: 0, Number 11001

Is this something other people are seeing?

We see the issue the other way round. We can connect to the database just fine, but are unable to authenticate against the additional SQL Endpoint.

Hi richanthony ,
Thanks for reaching out to the Microsoft fabric community forum.

To ensure reliable access:

Verify that your firewall or network proxy allows outbound traffic on port 1433 to SQL endpoints.

Confirm that you are not connected to a VPN or restricted corporate network that blocks or limits public cloud services.

I hope this information helps. Please do let us know if you have any further queries.
Thank you
