Cannot DROP a table in a Fabric Warehouse

I have a table the had about 2 million rows of fact data. I needed to add a column but cannot simply run an ALTER TABLE statement. So I need to DROP the table and recreate it. Shouldn't be that hard.

But the DROP TABLE statement just hangs.

I was able to do a DELETE FROM <my table> to remove all the rows just fine. The table is now empty. Still, the DROP TABLE statement does not complete. I let it run for 20 minutes.

I have removed it from the Default Semantic Model in the Warehouse.

I don't know what else to do. I'm stuck.

IMHO, Fabric is just not ready for prime time yet.

Can you please check if the dropping of the table is being blocked? You can use sys.dm_exec_requests to see if that is true.

Anonymous Thanks, yeah, there was an INSERT statement blocking it. Not sure what from seeing as all jobs had been closed out/disconnected.
