topic Updating Power BI Dataset Metadata Connected to Fabric Data Warehouse in Data Warehouse

Hello,

I have created a Power BI dataset from a Fabric Data Warehouse. In this dataset I created a relationship, added a few measures then created a report. I realised that I needed an additional column in one of the tables in my dataset.

I updated a Dataflow Gen2 process that refreshes a Lakehouse which forms part of my ETL process before the Warehouse and added my new column. I then dropped the table in the Warehouse and modified the Data Pipeline destination mapping to add my new column.

This all went successfully and my new column in my table in the Data Warehouse. The problem is, the new column is not showing in my dataset. I have tried refreshing and exploring all the options in the GUI but I can't figure out how to get this new column to show. I have found that by deleteing the measures from the table, removing it from the model then re-adding it, I can get the new column to appear. This is not a viable solution however because I have to recreate all my measures, relationships and formatting for every new field I want to add.

Does anyone have any ideas?

I'll accept at this stage there is no way of updating the schema of custom datasets. I like your idea of having the option of automatically updating or manually the schema.

Hopefully MS implement implement the ability to update custom dataset schema's in the near future. It's hard to evaluate fabric as a product without it.
