Dear colleagues,

We have created a Datawarehouse on Fabric that contain some view/tables,

When trying to consume these tables from PBI Desktop the tablles/views does not appear

but if the connection to the datwarehouse is done through the SQL End point the tables does appear

Any idea about why this behaviour?

Thx

Alfons

Hello, create a new semantic model in the warehouse.

Select the tables you will use in the model and click confirm.

In Power BI, select PowerBI semantic models.

Select the semantic model you created for the Warehouse and click confirm.

Now you can also view the tables in powerbi.

Connect - this connects to the default semantic model. If you haven't updated this, then no tables will apear

Connect SQL Endpoint - this connects to the actual Warehouse itself and is what you want to do if you create a new semantic model

Hi Andy,

Thx for the explanation. I now understand what was going wrong. Effectively after adding the table on the default WH semantic model I was able to see the table on the DWH connection. After adding it to our semnatic model added table appears on DirectQuery Storage, instead of the Import one that appears on the table imported using the SQL Endpoint.

I understand that this is the expected behaviour but would be possible to use the WH table available through the semantic model on import mode?

Just a last question. I have added tables to the model using from 2 differents WH using the SQL End point on both cases (as far as I know), and when I check the semantic model lineage I see that one appears as a Warehouse and the other as a SQL Server. Any explanation about this different behaviour?

Thx

How have you connected to both the Warehouses? I tested connecting using "Warehouse" in Power BI Desktop and Import mode, and I can see 2 Warehouse connections in the lineage
