Data Warehouse migration to a new account

Hi guys,

I will need to migrate the current work which I got about Data warehouse, measures, semantic model and dashboards to a new email account, to another domain.

I was able to download the DW project to my local machine, however I'm in doubt how I can import this file to the new domain.

Is it possible to import the file and recover all the perform work? I mean, if I can recover the measures, semantic models.

And after it, It would be possible to import the Power BI file.. this one I found the option to import the pbix file.

But I guess for the dashboard works fine, I would need first to import the original Data warehouse, am I right?

Welcome to the Microsoft Fabric Community.
If you are migrating your DW project to a new email account in a different domain in Fabric, you need to follow a structured approach.

Recreate the DW in Fabric
Fabric does not support direct import of .sqlproj files. The DW needs to be manually recreated in Fabric. The schema and data can be extracted from the current DW using Azure Data Studio or SSMS. Once extracted, Fabric Data Pipelines or dataflows can be used to load the data into Fabric DW or Lakehouse.
Migrate Measures and Semantic Models
If the measures were built in Power BI, they need to be reconnected to the new DW in Fabric. If the measures were part of the Data Warehouse, they must be redefined in the new Fabric Data Warehouse. Using Direct Lake mode in Power BI is recommended for improved performance.
Import Power BI Reports
Once the Data Warehouse is set up, Power BI data source settings should be updated to point to the new Fabric Data Warehouse. If the Power BI report was using Import Mode, relationships may need to be rebuilt, and the model should be refreshed.
Validate Reports and Dashboards
All visuals and measures should be checked for accuracy in Power BI Service. Row-Level Security (RLS) and permissions must be reviewed and configured correctly. The updated report should be published and tested to ensure proper functionality.

Hi v-csrikanth, thanks so much for the clarification.

Then in summary, I will need to recreate the DW, measures and the semantic model again.

I only got a doubt in how I can change the PBI dashboard "data source settings" as you have said to not need to recreate the dashboards again.

I've searched here in my example, however I couldn't find it. I searched in the "Settings" option and also in "Manage Permissions".

I'm using Fabric to create all items, since the DW, measures, relationships and dashboards.

Would it be possible to clarify how I can proceed to change the data source of dashboard PBI in Fabric?

Sorry for the inconvenience caused.
If the "Settings" and "Manage Permissions" options do not provide an option to change the data source, the update must be done in Power BI Desktop and re-uploaded to the service.

To update the dataset connection in Power BI Desktop, follow these steps:

Open Power BI Desktop and load your report.
Click on File in the top left corner.
Select Options and settings from the menu.
Click on Data source settings (as shown in the screenshot).
Locate your current data source and click Change Source to update it.
After updating, click Close and apply any required transformations in Power Query.
Refresh the dataset and validate the report visuals.
Finally, republish the updated report to Power BI Service.
