Failed DP-700, help / suggestions needed

Hi Community,

I failed the DP-700 exam - Microsoft Fabric Data Engineer Associate exam day before yesterday. I've earlier passed PL-300 and worked on certain aspects of data engineering and analytics just for little more context.

I studied all and only from Microsot Learn and Aleksi P youtube series. What I felt that exam time duration of 100 minutes was little less for me. The other observation is that i think the exam contained ~60-65 % code snippets based questions which were having long outputs to comprehand. There were couple of questions on KQL performance which were difficult for me. And last but not least, i spent i think ~15-20 min on Microsoft learn finding things with filter set to Fabric product. However i could barely get useful response for a question or two, next i decide NOT to use Learn portal but would rather focus on my own conscience/knowledge.

Finally, i'm seeking true help where i can learn more usecase (reference use cases to implement and get more hands on) based learning for DP-700 exam as that's where i think i migth have lagged.

Btw, jfyi my score was 659, i think just shying away one or two more right answers from getting passing score of 700.

Here's what worked for me. Dedicate the first 45 minutes to selecting the most likely answer, without looking anything up. Then spend the rest of the time re-evaluating the questions where you are unsure, and looking up stuff. That way your are not missing out on the easy points from the whole set of questions.

Allowing access to references is an evil way to make you waste time chasing down rabbit holes.

Note that DP-700 is nothing like PL-300 - you need to focus on Fabric Administration more than on artifact usage.

Few things to point out. First, I think this curated page is really helpful as it has a lot of content listed on it:

In terms of actual hands on content, some suggestions for you...the Kusto Detective agency is an awesome resource for hands on kusto learning. The applied skills would be a way for testing your experience on some aspects.

I agree with lbendlin about maybe considering how you approach the questions - it is a point collecting exercise, so it makes sense so answer as many questions as you can without any support for first pass - I tend to tag anything I'm not 100% sure about as needing review then deal with them on my second pass.

I was a bit nervous before taking the DP-700 exam, but a friend recommended Certss4Future, and it really helped. The practice questions gave me a better understanding of the exam format, and I passed with confidence. Glad I used it for my preparation.
