Hello,

I am able to connect to OLE DB on Power BI Desktop, however when trying to use Report Builder (OLE DB Data Sources are defined on the on-premise report server), I am receiving the following error

The 'OraOLEDB.Oracle' provider is not registered on the local machine.

I have tried to also install ODAC 32bit for Report builder but as my Windows version is 64bit, it did not work.

Any ideas?

Hi MajedAK

The error you're encountering, "The 'OraOLEDB.Oracle' provider is not registered on the local machine," occurs because the Oracle OLE DB provider required for connecting to an Oracle database isn't properly installed or registered on your system. In Power BI Desktop, you may be able to connect to the OLE DB provider because it might be using a different version (possibly 64-bit), or it might have been configured to work with the correct architecture. However, Report Builder, which runs in a 32-bit context, requires the 32-bit version of the Oracle Data Access Components (ODAC) and the Oracle OLE DB provider.

Since your Windows is 64-bit, installing the 64-bit version of ODAC alone won't resolve the issue in Report Builder, as it specifically requires the 32-bit provider to work with 32-bit applications. To fix this, you need to install the 32-bit version of ODAC alongside the 64-bit version to ensure that the 32-bit Oracle OLE DB provider is available for Report Builder. Make sure to download the correct 32-bit ODAC version from Oracle's official website and follow the installation instructions to register the provider on your system. After doing so, the error should be resolved, and you should be able to connect to your Oracle data source in Report Builder.
