Hello,

My Organization is replacing our shared drive with a centralized Network drive. I have a report server that runs on my computer and toad for Oracle installed. I connect to the report manager remotely. Some of the Data Sources I have for my RDL files are shared Data sets while Some are not. I have a single report with data source from shared drive which I used in creating table for a report .

My Question is this : When this change is done what impact will it have on my reporting process in the report server?

4. Data integrity and consistency may change:

Please backup all important data before migration and verify data integrity after migration to ensure that all files have been successfully backed up and are not damaged or lost!
I do understand your concern about modifying the corresponding configuration information. Here are some of my suggestions:

1. You need to update the data source path: after replacing it with a network drive, update the data source path in the RDL file in a timely manner to ensure that reports can find the correct data source.
2. You need to check the permission settings: Work with your IT department to ensure that the new network drive has the correct permission settings and that the report server and associated users have the appropriate access rights.
3. Monitor performance in a timely manner: After the replacement, monitor the performance of report generation and optimize as needed to ensure a smooth report generation process.
Update connection strings: If using a shared dataset or data source, update connection strings in a timely manner to point to the new network drive location.

Yes. My team is replacing a shared drive with a centralized network drive. My Database is Toad for Oracle. I believe data sources I created using toad Tables as source will not be impacted?

For your mention that data sources created with Toad for Oracle may not be affected, this is true because the data sources themselves do not change as a result of the drive change.
However, there are a few more parts you need to be aware of: if the paths or connection strings for these data sources reference old shared drive paths, then those paths will need to be updated to the new network drive paths.
The new network drive may have different permission settings, and you will need to make sure that the reporting server and associated users have the appropriate access rights.

Data backup is very important and I recommend you to backup all your important data in advance to avoid data loss issues.
