Power BI Reporting Server 2017 execution account

Does the Execution Account work with Power BI Reporting Server 2017 on premise? I am having issue with getting a Power BI Report to work setting up the datasource properties on the reporting server PB file to use specific credentials. It still wants to pass in the current user. I am connecting to SSAS datasource.

What kind of user are you trying to pass? A service account or actual windows user would require Windows Auth, where a SQL account, would require "Basic" auth.

Also make sure you don't have "Log in using these credentials, but then try to impersonate the user viewing the report" checked.

When adding the credentials, does clicking "Test connection" work?

Thank you for the reply. I was able to get the credentials to work with a service account to the database not using an execution account. Some of our report users are not windows user so I am not sure how to authenticate those users to the server.
