Power BI, on-premises data gateway (personal mode) and MySQL - Invalid connection credentials

Hi all

I'm using Power BI to fetch data from a MySQL database (running on AWS) via the on-premises data gateway (personal mode) + MySQL connector NET installed on Azure VM (running on Windows Server 2022).

On power BI (app.powerbi.com), the gateway is up and running but when I configure the data source credentials (with parameters server, database, authentication method - basic, username, password, tried encyption on and off for MySQL database) I get the following error:

Unable to update connection credentials. Invalid connection credentials.



Interestingly, when I had the exact same setup on my Windows 10 machine (on-premises data gateway (personal mode) + MySQL Connector Net) talking to same MySQL database on AWS mentioned above, everything worked fine.

Where did you install that gateway and what made you choose Personal rather than Standard? Are you using the MySQL driver 8.0.28 ?

Which version of MySQL Connector/NET you are using? Oracle's MySQL connectors are very bugy. Eg. 8.0.28, 8.0.31 and 8.0.32 are working, but 8.0.29, 8.0.30, 8.0.33 or 8.1.0 not working.
