add Group in the RLS in Power BI Report Server

Hello,

Currently, I am working with RLS to manage Teamleader's roles. I have a group including all Team leaders.

The problem happens when I try to add Group permission in Row Level Security. It doesn´t work. When I test with every user individually the RLS works, but when I use the group the RLS doesn´t work.

I want to make sure if RLS Group works in the report server in general (maybe only in the service) or I have a problem somewhere?

It depends on what you mean by "add group permission" if you are just trying to add a group as a member to a RLS role it should work fine. I do this all the time, in fact I pretty much only add groups to roles if I can.

And it's not clear what you mean by "it does not work" - do you get an error? Does the report show no data or all the data?

Can you provide some screen shots of how you are trying to configure your role and explain what behaviour you are seeing?

Role assignments through group memberships are only supported when the Power BI Report Server is configured to run with NTLM or Kerberos authentication. Servers running with Custom authentication or Windows Basic need users explicitly assigned to roles. So does RS require any different configuration in order for groups to work. I'm also not able to assign groups to RLS. it doesn't recognize the AD group no matter what I'm doing

The correct answer is as the Community Support replied: Power BI Report Server is configured to run with NTLM or Kerberos authentication.
Servers running with Custom authentication or Windows Basic need users explicitly assigned to roles.
