I was able to solve this.

1. Imported .cer to Personal folder on mmc then it showed up on the report manager.

2. My webservice and Portal both are https.

3. important thing to remember is while creating a certificate the CN name should be the domain name of the URL. For ex: if you want ur report manager url as https://earth.milkyway.org then your CN name should be earth.milkyway.org. If not you will not able to get that url when you select the certificate in the report manager.

4. I did not install IIS and I do not think you need . check out Interportability issues here

Hello ,

I am in the process of installing Power BI Report server. I am in the step to configure webservice URL. I want webservice URL and Webportal URL use https as our reports will be accessed outside the network. Is this ok ?

I have already uploaded .cert to Trusted Root Certificate using mmc on power BI server

1. Under webservice url section in Report Server Configuration Manager my certificate is not showing up at https certificate drop down. What should I do to fix this.

2. I will be embedding the reports in to SharePoint webapart which will be accessed outside network. So webportal url should be accessed fron outside the network. For this I would have to point a url on external DNS to the power BI server and I use this URl as webportal URL. Is this correct.

I have already looked at microsoft documentation.

This does not tell you how to install .cert file so it shows up on Report Manager.

3. Do I need to install IIS and upload certificates there. I read at tech documentation that you do not need IIS on Report server and it could cause conflicts.

Please help

Thank you

@R
