Gateway Connection HELP

HI All,

I am having trouble with my gateway connection. If my laptop is turned off, I get a "Refresh Fail" notification, however, if my laptop is on and i am online the dataset just does not refresh. I am unsure why it is not refreshing when it is online and why it fails when it is offline. I am not sure what are indicaters of what is going wrong. If someone could please help with trouble shooting and seeing where it may be disconnected please let me know.

Hi alisonpappas ,

If your gateway is offline it can't push data into the cloud :). Use a virtual machine which is on 24/7 and your refreshes will be always working :).

KBO when it is online it does not refresh either though. what is a virtual machine?

Ok so do you have set up the gateway and connect it to your Power BI Service?
