Power BI Dataset and Paginated report In Power BI Report server

Hello,

I have a Power BI report and one paginated report.

The paginated report connects to Power BI Report.

The paginated report works fine in Power BI report builder.

When I upload the paginated report on the power BI report server I am getting this error:

"an error has occurred during report processing. (rsprocessingaborted) an attempt has been made to use a data extension
'pbidataset' that is either not registered for this report server or is not supported in this edition of reporting services.
(rsdataextensionnotfound)".

Power BI Report server is trial and I have Pro Power BI license.

Unfortunately what you are trying to do is not supported (see https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/report-server/data-sources) you cannot currently connect from Power BI Report Server to a dataset on the Power BI service.

Your choices are to either:

re-build your data model as an Analysis Services tabular model and host it on an on-prem instance of SQL Server Analysis Services.
Publish your paginated report to a workspace on the powerbi.com service (which will require a premium workspace)

Power BI Report Server is licensed in one of two ways. Purchasing Power BI Premium capacity gives you a license to run the same number of cores as you have in the capacity. This ONLY applies to Premium P SKUs, not any others such as EM. The other way that it can be licensed is by purchasing SQL Server Enterprise Edition + Software Assurance.

I mean if I have SQL Server Enterprise Edition + Software Assurance instead of Power BI Premium capacity I can upload pagainated report that connect to Power BI report dataset to Power BI Report server.

No, it's still the same product with the same features and limitations. There are just two different ways of aquiring a license.
