I was working with Report Server Evaluation with SQL Express. After purchasing the Premium key, I started receiving the same message.

Do I have to upgrade to different edition? Enterprise for example.

I am trying to install report server in our development environment, and we are running into the "The database engine instance you selected is not valid for this edition of report server" error. I am using the key for report server that i got from the Powebi Service. We are running SQL 2014 developer edition in our development environment. is there a key for report server developer edition? This always worked for all the other SSRS instances we have build. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

The editions of the report server and the backend sql database need to match. e.g. Developer Edition for RS on Developer Edition for SQL, or Eval with Eval, etc.
