We're publishing a paginated report with a data connection to Azure SQL Database. It runs on the desktop Report Builder with Windows Authentication, but after publishing to the service requires Basic Authentication. Is this by design?

Hi ronrule,

This is currently by design. We will look to see what changes need to be made to support this in the future.

Hi ronrule,

Could you clarify how you are connecting to the Azure SQL Database? Is it using the Azure SQL datasource or through a Power BI Dataset? I'm not an Azure SQL expert, but I didn't think Windows Auth (NTLM) was supported, so curious how it worked in Report Builder. Was it able to connect in both Query Designer and in Preview? Did you get an AAD sign in prompt?
