How fast is the data refresh rate for a report published to the service?
Is it really instantaneous or is there a waiting period?

For direct query, there is no data refresh, you are live querying the data. The speed is determined by how fast the query can get to your data gateway, retrieve the data and return the data back to the Service.

Addition to @Greg_Deckler

There is a direct connection between Power BI and the database. When you interact with a visualization, queries are sent from Power BI directly to the database. To enhance performance, dashboards tiles are cached and periodically refreshed. Change the frequency here. (You can always manually refresh a tile any time by using the option on the More menu of the tile

Hi,

Fast is depends on your code.Its not taking that much of time to refresh.In our project also we are using direct query reports are taking 10-15minutes to refresh the data.
