Fetch data programmatically from a dataset via API or TOM?

Is there any way via code to retrieve/fetch data via the dataset in c# via the REST API or Tabular Object Model?

I have a table that contains metadata which I want to load and use to apply some changes to the dataset.

Turns out it can be done via the adomd library on which you can make a connection to the dataset and run a query (Evaulate) to return results.
