How to bind a dataset to a vnet gateway

We have switched our gateways to vnet gateways because of performance enhancements.

However our existing code during deployment of reports and datasets would bind the dataset to a specific gateway as well as a datasource, using the BindtoGateway api endpoint.

However this is not available for VNet gateways?? Likewise none of the Gateway endpoint APIs are available for Vnet?

Is there some way to perform this binding? If not via the REST API is there a way to do it via the xmla endpoint? (our datasets are created anyway via the xmla endpoint).

Please advise if anyone has figured this out.

The following REST API can bind a specified dataset to the specified gateway, but it only support the on-premises data gateway...

Thank you, but you just provided me with information that I already knew. The whole issue is the Bind To Gateway only supporting on-premise gateway.

I need a solution for binding for vnet gateway.

The truth is I decided to go AGAINST what the docs said and it turns out the API seems to be working for the vnet gateway also! So I am not sure if the docs are wrong or if I am going to run into problems at some point - ie it will just stop working!

The information provided has nothing to do with the question. The question is about automation.

We are also trying to automate using azure pipelines and service principal, and facing the same behavior.
