Problem embedding Power BI paginated reports

Hi all,

I am trying to embed a paginated report in "App owns data" scenario, using Microsoft sample solution in .NET. I created two dummy versions of the same report, both regular and paginated, and while I am able to embed regular report fine, paginated one is just stuck loading and eventually throws this error:

This is what I see in the console log:

I have perused documentation for this thoroughly, and followed this article as an example https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/developer/embedded/embed-paginated-reports-customers.

I have app setup, using Service Principal, enabled tenant settings in Power BI so the principal can use APIs. Workspace is part of A4 capacity which should be sufficient for developing phase.

Also, when put a breakpoint in Visual Studio, I see that token is generated, as well as Embed URL and that Report ID matches.

The only thing that somehow confuses me is documentation on supported data sources. I have basically uploaded an xslx file to Power BI and used that dataset as basis where my paginated report queries data from. Based on this document (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/paginated-reports/paginated-reports-data-sources) I am not entirely sure if my method is supported or not. Based on this part I'd say it's not supported:

..."Power BI datasets aren't supported as a data source for embedded paginated reports in "app owns data" scenarios..."

However, I am not entirely sure so a clarification on this would be greatly appreciated.

Unfortunatly, this limitation has not been solved yet. This is a known limitation.
