Javascript SDK and CLI, how to use for embedding?

I thought I had at least a basic understanding of JS and web stuff but have got totally confused so any help appreciated....

Tried to setup Embedded reports, what I have managed:

1) Using the node based CLI locallly on a machine (windowe can't get it working on mac) to generate Tokens.

2) Using the code snippets in the Javascript SDK to embed the report that the token in 1 was for.

But, how to put it all together on the web ?

The examples Ember, Angular seem to call the C based server example to get tokens etc so main question is do I need to create a node.js server/api to get called by the Javascript in order to embed reports, or totally miss-understood the process ?

Node.js as have some familiarity with that, C code, .NET etc no experience with.

Any pointers welcome or examples ideal!
