Tracking Share Price

Hi everyone

I am fairly new to PowerBI, and the bulk of my work has been in PowerBI Desktop, mostly making reports.

I was wondering, is it at all possible to track the share price of a specific company live through PowerBI? I know it has to do with API resources, but I do not quite understand how to pull that into streaming dataset.

Appreciate if someone could help point me in the right direction.

Hi @rjsidek

My previous reply shared some API information and how to create reports.

Since you concern about "pull that into streaming dataset",

I would explain more:

when connecting with Web API,

you could publish the report from Power BI Desktop to Power BI Service(a cloud service),

on Power BI Service, you could create reports/dashboards,

configure schedule refresh for the web source(edit permission for that source),

finally share the reports/dashboards to others, others can see the dashboards/reports with data lively.

This is not compeletely "realtime", it refreshes at setting time.

As for real-time dashboards/reports, it needs some time for me to implement it.
