Dynamic Calculation SSAS Live Connection Report Server

Hi everybody,

we are using Power BI Report Server and an SSAS datasource via live connection. We have reports that loads one million or more rows thats why we decieded to use a live connection.

For a couple of reports we need a calculation that is based on the current selected filter value. We have two dates one of them is fix in the datasource and the second date is my filter. We need to calculate the days beetween this to dates. With this resault a lot of other calculation is done. For Example:

12/01/2018 (fix from source) - 12/03/2018 (filter value in report) = 2 -> with this resault we some further calculation.

I know it is possible wit SSRS reports and paramters.

Is there any way to extend Power BI with the API or JavaScript or anythingelse to do this kind of calculation?

Hi @Anonymous,

It is not possible with Power BI reports using Live connections to SSAS. But why you not create SSRS report and publish it to Report Server?

thanks Ruslan

our goal is to use Power BI whenever possible because SSRS has some others disadvantages. But for this case we will use paginated reports.

Hope this feature comes soon to Power BI.
