“Bay Area Bike Share – Rental Trends and Opportunities”

Summary:

This report is designed to deliver the number of bikes rented through the Bay Area Bike Share company throughout the company’s last three fiscal years. The number of bike rentals can be sliced and viewed by a series of different lenses, including by Area, Customer Type, and Day of Week.

The data is available at www.bayareabikeshare.com, and was available to the public for a promotional data analysis challenge in 2012.

From our report, it is apparent that most customers are week-day commuters in the San Francisco area. Additionally, customers tend to rent more bikes during the warmer months.

Going forward, Bay Area Bike Share has announced that they are partnered with Ford Go Bike and will begin to rent those instead of their proprietary bicycle.
