Need help to count rows within period from a single Date Slicer based on two date columns

Hi There,

I have the following setup, Tables Item and Date. The Date table serves as a Date Dimension, on which I will setup a single slicer.

I've added 2 measures as follows that work well. The First is to show a count of Items that started within a selected period:

The second measure show a count of Items that ended in a selected period:

This makes use of the secondary relationship.

However, I am looking to add a measure for those records that are Started and Ended within a selected period.

From the above rows I expect the following results:

Can any one assist with this DAX expression?
